Dr. Lalonde is a current Professor of Surgery in Dalhousie University in Canada. He obtained his Bachelors and Medical Degrees in Queen’s University in 1979, and his Masters Degree in McGill University in 1984. He was the President of the American Association for Hand Surgery in 2013, and the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2007. He was also the Chairman of the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2012, and is currently an Examiner in the organization since 1999. Moreover, he is an Honorary Member of the American Society of Hand Therapy.
He has written over 100 scientific papers and 30 book chapters. His main areas of research include wide awake reconstructive surgery, minimal pain injection of local anesthesia to avoid the need for operative sedation, pain guided hand therapy, and evidence based operative sterility. He is the Editor of the Wide Awake Hand Surgery book, which was published in 2015.
