Dr. Thomas Kiefhaber is a graduate of B.A Chemistry in Duke University, Durham North Carolina. In 1980, he received his Medical Degree in the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where he was later awarded as the ‘Outstanding Teacher Award’ by the Department of Family medicine in 1997-1998.
He was once the Board of Director Hand Surgery Center from 1999-2008, the Executive Committee of Bethesda Hospital the year 1998-2000, and the Program Co-Director in Comprehensive Review in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery of the American Society of the Hand in July 2009. He was also the Website Service Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand in 1999-2006, became the Vice-Chairman in 1999-2000 and eventaully the Chairman in 2001-2003.
His certifications and licensures include the Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and Diplomat of National Board of Medical Examiners.
Some of his professional organizations are the American Society for Surgeon of the Hand, American Academy of the Orthopaedic Surgeons, Kiros Society for Hand Research and Freiberg Society.
He is currently part of the Board of Directors in TriHealth Orthopaedic and Sports Institute since 2014, and in 2016, he was a member of the nominating committee of American Society for surgery of the Hand. Dr. Kiefhaber is a managing partner of Hand Surgery specialist for 31 years.
