Born in 1959 in Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Somsak Leechavengvongs received his license registration in the Medical Council of Thailand in the year 1984. His major research interests are brachial plexus surgery, free composite tissues transfer, and hand surgery.

He started teaching in the year 1990, from being the staff of Microsurgical Laboratory Institute of Orthopaedics  to subcommittee on Residing Training program in Orthopaedics in the Ministry of Public Health.

His clinical and hospital services started in the year 1990, and he is currently  the consultant Orthopaedic surgeon and Upper Extremity and Reconstructive Microsurgery unit in the Institute of Orthopedic Department of Medical Services Ministry of Public Health.

In 1992-1994 he was the Assistant Editor of The Journal of the ASEAN Orthopaedic Association, and the Co-Editor from 1995-1997. In 2010 until present, he is the Deputy Editor  of the Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury.

Today, he is a faculty of medicine at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, the chief of Institute of Orthopedics in Lerdsin Hospital, and the deputy editor of the Journal of Brachial Plexus and Peripheral nerve injury.
